Chesterfield Canal Worksop - Broken Glass Everywhere

Post by Brian73 »

Rode back from Clumber Park today via Worksop. I wanted to use the canal towpath for a bit through the town. Broken glass everywhere, mostly around the pubs en-route. Looks like people are chucking glasses and bottles onto the towpath.

Had to abandon, and carry my bike back up to the main road.

Poor show Worksop !

Happens on main roads too. After a big football match, or on New Years Day, for instance, there are always patches of broken glass on the road outside some of the more 'notorious' pubs.

There have been times when I wish there were a law banning the sale of drinks in glass utensils. I'd imagine, plenty of people who work in A&E would wish for that, too. But I suppose that's wishful thinking...

I don't know Worksop, but when Reading FC are playing at home, the pubs in town which are popular with supporters have to provide plastic "glasses" only, on police instructions.

I was referring to my area: leafy middle-class Sussex. It's all the same....

I've been going through Little Hulton along NCR55 at least twice a week for the last 2 years. Not once has that stretch been free of broken glass. Bloody kids there are a nightmare. I'm now saving my pennies for some Panaracer anti pun**ure strips to line my Hypers with as I simply hate the feel of any other tyre but sick to death of them leaking air.
