Carbon seatpost with an Aluminium frame

Can anyone suggest what I should be putting on a carbon seatpost to stop it sticking in my aluminium frame. I was told in my LBS that I should put nothing on it, and that sticking is a risk, but grease attacks the gell on the carbon fibre
Many thanks

That's my understanding too. Also if you grease a carbon post, the torque required to hold it in place is likely to crush it. Better to instal it dry.

Gosh, this is good timing - I've just fitted a carbon seatpost and didn't know this.
Obviously I can remove the seatpost and remove any grease residues from that but how do I completely remove grease from within the seat tube?

I think if you wrap an old T shirt around a piece of cane or something similar it will take most of the grease off the inside of the frame. I wouldn't use a solvent on the T shirt unless you could suspend the frame upside down to sop it running into the BB

Yes, DO not grease a carbon seatpost in an Alu frame!! Did this once and the post stuck solid into the frame. Had to clamp the seatpost in a vice and use the frame to turn and remove - not great. I have suffered from seatpin slippage on my TT bike and the local shop said to put hairspray on the pin as it leaves a sticky tpe of residue. Worked so far!

Actually my frame is steel but presumably the same advice applies?

Ah! Sorry didn't read the post quite correctly. Well, give the hairspray thing a go!
