Flanders
Has anyone been cycling in Flanders in the last few days? We have been hearing about adverse weather conditions. Are the roads flooded or can you get about? We are setting off next Thursday for a few days cycling, including the Paris Roubaix ride. Feeling slightly nervous!
Re: Flanders
Hello again. I'm not sure where this info came from, but the weather isn't extreme at all. Naturally it's wetter than normal for June
and it's rained over the past week, but nothing serious - currently it's dry on the roads, overcast and 21 degrees.I happened to be in the UK last week too, and it was worse there
You have nothing at all to worry about.

Here you go. A decent and fairly reliable weather forecasting site for Belgium.

Re: Flanders
Hi Chocjohn9!
Just got back from Flanders.
We were going out for a ride on Friday afternoon, but we didn't get to Cambrai until 9pm, due to problems in the Tunnel
Saturday, spent some time at Vimy, then visited the market at Arras. Lovely town. On to Gommiecourt Cemetary for family reasons, then we stopped for food (and to get warm and dry!) in Poziers. Up the hill to Thiepval, and the final visit of the day was the Welsh memorial at Mametz. Back to Cambrai
Sunday, we rode the Paris Roubaix sportive, starting at the pit in Wallers Arenberg. Great event, and if it's something you have thought about doing, go for it. But.... Nothing prepares you for the cobbles. At the end of the last sector my hands were so sore and covered in blisters from fighting to keep the bike upright and finding the right line. 120k and 30k of cobbles. Treated ourselves to a night at the Ariane Hotel in Ieper, which is lovely
Monday, rode from Ieper to Dunkirk. The first half, Mont Noir, Mont de Cats and the Casselberg features on the Tour de Flandres route and is interesting. From Cassel it is a dead flat ride to the sea. We didn't stop at Bourg, but it does look worth a visit. I have to say that it is a nasty busy road, but there is a bike lane on the south side that takes you right to the quayside in Dunkirk. Easy to find
We were going to cycle north along the coast path, but the cobbles took too much out of us. So we stopped in Dunkirk for a meal and a pint.
Tuesday, back via the Tunnel
Cycling over to the Welsh coast next Friday, possibly a little climb over Dinas Mawddy. Back by train though!
Cheers!
