I would struggle to justify the cost based on the relatively short useful life of a kids bike.
An adult might expect a bike to last decades (at least *I* do), so the cost is spread out much more...

Yes a kids bike can be sold on, and Islabikes traditionally hold value - but this is getting into a smaller and smaller segment of people = those who want a Pro series bike, but want to save a couple of hundred pounds. Additionally I'd be concerned buying any CF fork second hand - maybe that's just me, but I doubt it.

Hey - I hope I see loads of them around, but given the sustained prevalence of the Tesco class BSO, then I don't think I will...

And little ol' me too :)

But kid's can put up with anything if they think it's in fashion

...which is why I had such a battle with Mrs BFB when I sprung from the undergrowth talking about an Islabike for our daughter, who, I was assured would actively prefer something made of gas pipe with fluorescent accents, tassels, pom-poms, a front basket and citing the name of at least 17 well-known childrens' characters.

A patient exchange ensued over a number of months, culminating in an Islabike's purchase, with the revelatory consequences I've spoken of before.

So great has been the behavioural & attitudinal change in my wife that she still frets to this day about that extra .8kg that our daughter's spotty Frog bike weighs over the equivalent Islabike

I can fully understand her concerns, that is,tassles and pom poms would do for any child's bike adornments,I was 14 before me Dad would let remove them from my bike,he was a ****** for detail :?
