That's interesting, thanks. I've also been told a big power draw is to leave the map page showing, with the need for it to be constantly redrawn. Yet on a route I'm not familiar with that's the screen I like. The longest ride I'm likely to do without the opportunity to recharge would be a 300k Audax in around 16 - 18 hours. I'm hoping the small powerpack recommended by AlanW will do that without worrying too much about the backlight (Which I don't normally use very bright) and which page is showing. Until I'm convinced I can do that, I'll probably carry the brick as a back up.

IME with the (almost identical) 800 the map screen will do about 9 hours. I think I get 12 or so out of a data screens.

I've done a 500km ride with an Edge 200 and one recharge from one of those cigar batteries, and the same battery should easily triple the runtime of an 800/Touring, so it should be more than adequate for what you want.

Or use the one that comes with the Garmin, of course :)

Of course, but I found that the OE Garmin one to be far to long to be honest, hence why I purchased a really short one. Should have that made more clear in the post really
