No - but to be fair - if you label something with an instruction you need to expect it to be followed at some point.
Maybe a sheet of glass or perspex would have been a useful addition to the public display.

The gallery were asking for it:-
According to a spokesperson for the museum, the retired dentist filled in some of the empty boxes in pen.
A retired dentist surely can't be trusted near anything that needs filling in

.
She probably just needed something to get her teeth into

I'm sure it will be recognised in some years that she actually enhanced the artwork. Now, how could you similarly enhance the work of Marcel Duchamps?
