Snot

Post by deliquium »

Have just done a quick and brief search of the forum re this subject.

However, my problem is all year round regardless of temperature - it might? even be worse when warm - today was particularly bad and provoked this query.

I don't suffer from hay fever. I always wear eye protection (to prevent runny eyes, but insects mainly).

I'm fit (10,000 miles average a year, cycle daily) and hover around 10st - whether that's at all relevant I don't know.

I regularly pluck excess nasal hairs (vanity mainly).

I've noticed fellow cyclists who are more hirsute up there, don't have the same problem.

I'm 62 years old and have always suffered from this annoyance - but think it might be getting worse

Also constant phlegm is spoiling my daily cycling too :(

Any thoughts or advice most welcome.

Try dehydrating yourself ... that will cut down on the phlegm / snot .....
Lol
I produce huge quantities of sweat ... i just deal with it and shower after rides, and climbing ... oh yea, and just about any activity.
Except 1 ... which is strange, but good she says.
Someone with medical no-how must know what the relationship is between age, snot and hydration i expect.
Don't get nasal hair ,,, really, i don't get it ...

The solution for me has been a pair of wrap-around cycling glasses that eliminate eye-watering. 8)

I wear them - zero effect on the 'problem' for me. I've experimented with and without.

We're all weird

Which makes life so interesting :D

That was the cure for me too

Snot?
I've suffered from it all my cycling years, and it's no worse nowadays since I've become AU in the past couple of years.

I have not a single hair on the whole of my body. Not a single one anywhere.
No nasal hair of course.

Even when I did have hair ............ and lots of it ............... I was snotty when riding.
I still am now, so it's nothing to to do with nasal hair I assure you, except it runs a bit more freely as there's nothing to catch it.

My mitts have a nice soft area for wiping, and The One Finger Trumpet works well too.
Just check that there's no-one behind.

I'm with Mick on this......
any sport that is outside tends to generate snot.... I believe it is partly due to the fact we breathe deeper during exercise..... so bring up snot from deeper down in the lungs.

Sadly I too have this same problem and I am only 29 - these days I just tend to try and live with it.
