Can't remember the details but there's some really positive reason why full or semi milk is good for you.

My own doctor (who is a competitive triathlete) recommends full fat milk, not only because it's a very good recovery drink, but because it's a great source of the building blocks of testosterone, the one thing that really does diminish when you're 35+ years old. Keeping a good production of testosterone will also help you in 'other departments', as well as promoting a faster metabolism which will in turn help you to lose weight.

I've another friend who is recovering from cancer while still cycling and his dietician is also recommending whole foods and liberal (though not excessive) consumption of eggs, cheese, nuts and grain based bread. His blood glucose and cholesterol are very strictly monitored and both have come down quite dramatically over the past year since the change to whole, and not processed food.

I'd suggest that if anyone is starting to worry about their weight or what they eat (rather than just having what I'd call a detached and objective concern about it, like, hey, my BMI is well up on what it was an my clothes are tighter, I need to lose a bit, or my BMI is lowish, I need to eat a bit more) the next stop should be a talk with their GP.

They can check to see there are no underlying causes, and offer a bit of reassurance if there aren't, as well as some advice in general about diet. They can also refer you on if necessary.
Best not to let anything to do with food get too much of a worry.

I don't need a doctor to tell me that the underlying cause of my recent weight gain is my utter inability to stop popping sugary snacks in my mouth.

I did 45 miles this morning, and looking to start the week with a brisk commute in the morning. I've swapped the sugary snacks for fruit, nuts and seed. I'm eating less meat and more salads, so should hopefully start seeing results soon.
