Hi All,
Currently on 25MM tyres, looking to go up to 28mm tyres.
A lot of research into the tyres.
Questions:
Q1) Are the inner tubes as variable in quality and performance as well?!
Q2) Can I keep the old inner tubes, and just pump up more?
Q3) Is it good practice to replace the inner tubes at the same time as any well used tyres? (Ie is there a wear and tear element for high mileage inner tubes as well?!)
Q4)
Is the below deal on any good, or are the free inner tubes clearnace cheapies thrown in, and the wrong size (25-32c - is that 25MM-32MM)?!
combo deal:

Some reviews I've seen on the inner tubes in the combo deal - one suggested, too big a inner tube size, and a pain to fit:
https://www.biketiresdirect.com/product ... rstop-tube
Specifically for my bike:
They are the OEM ones that came with the 25MM lugano tyres on the bike.
No idea what they are until I take the tyres off etc.
Hope you can advise
Regards
Martin

a tube that is not too stretched in a 25mm tyre is usually OK in a 28mm tyre, but you need to look at them to be sure.
If your old tubes look a bit tired (tyred..?) you should change them anyway, they don't last for ever.
If you have the choice of a 25-32 and a 23-28, I'd suggest that you choose the former; the only advantage the other one has is that it may be a little lighter in weight. IME if a tube is too stretched inside the cover it will tend to puncture more easily and go down faster too.
cheers

1. They are variable, but the differences are tiny compared to tyre differences. Nonetheless, I like lighter tubes than the standard ones – not for the weight saving per se but the advantages in rolling resistance and comfort. Lighter tubes are sensitive to rough handling on installation, though.
2. Yes, though you’ll actually be using a lower pressure with the bigger tyres. The tube will stretch a little more, probably harmlessly.
Unlike Brucey, I’d choose the smallest inner tube I can get away with. A large tube is hard to install without getting it pinched. A smaller tube may not last as long, but at least it will survive installation!
