I got those ALDI lights last year. Wasn't impressed by their cheap build quality. Socket cover fell off taking it out of the packaging. The charging wasn't good taking ages and the battery charge indicator wasn't clear (it was showing all the time even after a full charge). Still it's ok as a back up until I get those better aluminium ones tonight, if they've not sold out.

They are just not the build quality. Both me and my partner got them. We both still use.them. my partner uses her rear light as the only one.

They are bright and visible so they're more than good enough for a set of "to be seen lights ". It's just that my partner's front light, sorry the one I bought but palmed off onto her, has no cover for the socket. It still works even in the rain. It's just that I'd be bothered by that water resistance being effected. Still it's not been an issue so far.

All other issues are minor and TBH are me being fussy. They're not as expensive as the original moon versions so even if they fail after a couple of years It's not an issue. They're my back up / second light set. I always have two sets of front and rear lights. Don't want to be caught out.

I'll possibly get another set, definitely the better aluminium ones. 240 lumens up front and 100 lumens out back. That's not far off my cateye volt 300 and Cateye x2 lights. They cost a lot more. Something like £45 for the front and £34 for the rear light.

I got two of the Aluminium lights - one front and one back.
They seem pretty good quality, and are very bright; I used the saddle mount from the rear one to mount the front one under the basket on the front of the bike. The rear one has gone on the seat post. They will see plenty of use soon!

I got a set too. They're bright for sure. The rear is similar to my best rear light at 100 lumens. The front is not as powerful as my main.front light but it's a different kind of light being a wide or tall rectangle depending on the orientation you use it in. Basically great second lights for dull and wet winter nights. They look quality made too with even the weak spot that's the socket cover seems OK.

I bought one of the aluminium 'COB' rear lights and did the usual thing of looking at it on the brightest setting when it was far too close to my face :shock:

I have researched this topic extensively and finally opted for a good mounting kit for my iPhone, a portable battery and the brilliant Cyclemeter app (premium version £10)

I bought 2 pairs of the fluorescent green socks @ £2.99 a pair. They go well with our club kit.

I bought the bib tights for £29.99 (not the ones seen above!) but the fit was so bad that I took them back for a refund. I am 6ft tall and have a 42in chest so got the large as recommended on the pack. The fit was weird: too tight on my chest, too loose and flappy at the mid rif, thighs were a good fit but the legs were 3in too short so not much good on a cold winter's day.

I also got some leg warmers and the front and rear Al LED COB strip lights all of which are fine so far.

Yes, that's the exact shade of green, but the design of the kit is a bit different!

We wanted a small red light for a random purpose (boring and complicated reasoning provided on demand if anyone is that silly). We bought one of the small rear lights in the aldi sale, the one for £2.99 that's a short stubby cylinder with a rubber attachment strap.

Even for £2.99, I think this light is very poor. It produces a feeble red light. And the attachment strap is completely Mickey Mouse. I'd have no confidence in it staying attached for an extended period of time.;

The only interesting thing about it is that the light itself doubles as the on-off switch. Better than those tiny at the back switch.
