Raleigh Ikea folding bike

Post by jake »

I'm looking for a folder for occasional (about once a month) commuting into London. I've seen these regularly on Ebay at very sensible prices. Your opinions/advice much appreciated.

I bought one a few weeks ago, haven't ridden it in anger yet, apart from a few yards up & down the road.
My comment is that the bike is short, a very upright riding position, even for somebody who is short, 5' 7" tall like myself.

There are two types....

The former is a badged Raleigh Promenade, which in turn was usually a badged Dahon... This time though they were a Polish batch made for a Christmas distribution where Ikea gave 9,000 to their staff as a green incentive.

Most of these ended up on EBay, hence the low price and number available.

I have ridden neither, but if I remember the comments at the time, the "Promenade" version had a longer wheelbase, rode better and had a higher spec
