I haven’t tracked all the replies but it seems everyone that has Titanium loves it. The 'doubters' seem to be more on a theoretical basis, the owners seem to love their bikes

By the way, that wasn't intended to be critical of anyone, or provocative. It was just an observation

It is important to focus on the most appropriate bike that offers the most suitable specification for what you are hoping achieve interms of riding experience, bike fit included. Every conclusion will be based on 'the sum of the parts', and frame material will be part of that equation; but for some the considerations may well be outside how the bike actually performs. I know that for many part of the appeal of a robust unpainted Titanium frame is that they can afford to be less precious with it than they would be with a more delicate painted carbon frame for example.

Providing the design of the frame is correct for the intended use then you should be able to find something that will do the job adequately in a variety of frame materials. Personally I would rather have a well made well designed frame constructed with a less expensive material than vice versa.
