I'm just curious; I'm not going to buy a carbon fibre frame.
But, how can Planet X sell branded carbon framesets for £252? Isn't that cheaper than buying off-brand frames from Ali Baba?

£232 is the lowest price for small in Zesty Lime. Presumably not many oompa loompas buy bikes so not much of a market.

Does seem a good price. Surely a better bet than one from "unknown source" through Ali Baba or online as it would have some sort of warranty from PX. The answer as to why so cheap - maybe the economies of scale? If you're buying one from Far East it won't be as low a price as if buying 1000

I bought a Kaffenback frame/fork from them a few years ago. No big complaints. Handled well. Cheap. The cost showed in poor quality paintwork. I've had no issues with other small items I've bought like tyres. I've read mixed opinions on their recent customer service elsewhere.
As long as you buy with a credit card (direct and not via Paypal) you are covered for any major issues under Section 75 which makes the credit card co jointly liable for goods over £100.

I'd be interested in a Kaff if they still sold the caliper brake model, but alas they give no choice but disc brake
As regards the paint, my Pompino was faultless and has remained so for 2 years - a lovely blue with a superb clear coat!

The PX sale is also known as the DFS sale
I paid £200 for mine last Christmas via their Ebay store, they did promote a voucher code that brought the frame down to £240 via their website too.pete75 wrote:£232 is the lowest price for small in Zesty Lime. Presumably not many oompa loompas buy bikes so not much of a market.

Paid £250 for my large size gloss black carbon finish version.
The Yo-yo pricing is a bit annoying, but you just get used to checking every few days.
I did buy a SAB frame which I had to take back as I could not find an internal headset to fit it despite trying 3 bike shops including Planet X themselves who had no idea what fitted it.
They have had some financial issues recently and have laid off staff http://www.bikebiz.com/news/read/brexit ... t-x/020270
I sometimes view them as the cycling equivalent of Sports Direct in terms of their business model
