Why didn't he just not respond?
Is his ego so big that he can't see the idiocy of his 'tweet'(I really wanted to write 'trump')?
Is this worth discussing?

You may think about commenting on her ego?

I know nothing of her ego, only Trump's obvious and overt ego,his misogyny, racist comments and threats, his terrible attack on a disabled journalist, his dodgy business dealings, his 4 or was it 5 bankrupt businesses, his cronyism in appointing his family in key positions, etc, etc.
Need I go on about Mr President elect Trump?

As for Ms Streep I see a fine actress despite what Trump says about her this week, and that's all I know, care to inform us of her ego?

This is what she said in her speech which offend Trump so much:- he mocked a disabled reporter, Serge F. Kovaleski, who in her words Trump "outranked in privilege, power and the capacity to fight back", and that "When the powerful use their position to bully, we all lose." She also said "Hollywood is crawling with outsiders and foreigners

Someone tweeted back: "If 157 awards as an actress makes Meryl Streep "overrated" what does 6 bankruptcies make you as a businessman?"
Which made me laugh.

He's quite entertaining to watch - for all the wrong reasons. It's fairly obvious he has an enormously overrated view of himself and thinks he can bully everyone into doing what he wants.
It's going to be a funny few years as the reality of the world starts to bite him.

Well worth watching some of his speeches, here's a short one to get you started... ;)

Interestingly Trump claims 4 bancrupsies. But fortunately there are reporters out there who are not living in awe of the man and ...
https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2016/live-updates/general-election/real-time-fact-checking-and-analysis-of-the-first-presidential-debate/fact-check-has-trump-declared-bankruptcy-four-or-six-times/ wrote:“You’ve taken business bankruptcies six times.”
–Hillary Clinton

“On occasion – four times – we used certain laws that are there.”
–Donald Trump

PolitiFact uncovered two more bankruptcies filed after 1992, totaling six. Trump Hotels and Casinos Resorts filed for bankruptcy again in 2004, after accruing about $1.8 billion in debt. Trump Entertainment Resorts also declared bankruptcy in 2009, after being hit hard during the 2008 recession.

http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2016/jun/21/hillary-clinton/yep-donald-trumps-companies-have-declared-bankrupt/ wrote:Bankruptcy No. 1: The Trump Taj Mahal, 1991
Bankruptcy No. 2: Trump Castle, 1992
Bankruptcy No. 3: Trump Plaza and Casino, 1992
Bankruptcy No. 4: Plaza Hotel, 1992
Bankruptcy No. 5: Trump Hotels and Casinos Resorts, 2004
Bankruptcy No. 6: Trump Entertainment Resorts, 2009

So it looks like either the man knows so little about his businesses he does not even know when they are going bankrupt or he is just lying trying to improve his business record.

What I find disturbing is the way established politicians play right into his hands. For example, his interview with Gove and a German journalist for Bild reportedly (via R4 whilst driving home yesterday) included Trump saying that Merkel had "caused a refugee crisis" in Europe. In reply a senior German politician (didn't catch who, sorry) apparently said that the crisis was "caused by the US". Both are arguably true, given different base tenets and starting points but the latter plays straight into Trump's hands and he can now say (with more truth than he usually needs) in domestic interviews, that German leaders agree with him that Obama caused the refugee crisis (and by extrapolation ISIS) - which has been his message for years.

Funny that I recall the migration crisis from Africa to Europe being predicted back in the '70s... Must have had a crystal ball I guess!

I have the general impression that Trump seems very anti the EU (a bit like Farage for whom UK leaving the EU is not enough but he seems to want the remaining EU to fall apart as well). So many of Trump's comments seem targeted at creating instability. Things like his criticism of Merkel, his (likely ambassador's) suggestion of tempting other EU countries to leave after a "good trade deal with the EU" (http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/brexit-donald-trump-us-uk-eu-trade-deals-states-could-withdraw-causing-break-up-warning-a7529336.html), his continued comments about NATO being obsolete, etc. It's almost like he really wants the EU to fall apart.

To me that only makes sense because bigger countries and trade blocs represent more competition to US domination thus any erosion of the EU (by e.g. the UK leaving) reduces the EU "authority" and increases US dominance. And then there is the fact that EU instability or break-up would also be high on Putin's wish list.

And the UK seems to want to help him (Trump) in achieving this ! (or maybe it's just Trump cheerleaders like Gove and Farangy).

Not a real indication of anything beyond that probabilities are in part how such companies make their money (but as the article points out, they were giving odds based on a Hilary win being more likely!)

Ladbrokes said that odds he will be impeached or resign before his first term ends are 50-50.
Paddy Power is offering a more conservative 20 per cent chance that Mr Trump will be impeached in the first six months of his Presidency.
...
Mr Trump recently prompted outrage when he gave his first press conference after six months alongside a stack of paper folders, the proof of his plans as to how he would separate official and commercial duties. The papers appeared to be blank.

Betting and gaming companies are not necessarily in the game of predicting results. Their business is managing a betting"book" such that they make a profit from the event.

Quite.
And the pollsters re Trump basically said that Clinton had the edge in the actual polls but it was too close to call. And in fact, she did get more votes overall, just not in the right places- the electoral system gave it to Trump because of the electoral college.

And in the case of the other recent vote of note, there was a big weight of money that came in on the remain side that the bookies responded to. There was actually a larger number of bets placed on leave.

seems like American is so not English that the BBC or others felt the need to put up subtitles so that viewers can understand what they are saying about the Trump Inaugurtion? or maybe redneck-speak

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/world-us-canada-38682565

Trump's Followers need subtitles?
Trump's Followers need subtitles?

well just listened to his speech and sounded quite sane and sensible to me - a govt is elected to serve the citizens needs and not some moral crusade to gratify the beliefs of some elitest minority - Will be interesting to see how he demands that the EU starts to pay its way for its defence? Too long they have been depending on the USA. I hope Mrs May follows his general viewpoint; I only wish she would put a stop to the £12bn/year in foreign aid that OUR country desperately needs? In a way cant help but like the guy as he speaks like many ordinary do with all their blemishes & blunders and lack of artifice? speaks from the hip? no wonder he won against the polished masks of Clinton better than thou's. I hope it dont turn out to be bullshit
