Hi
Can anybody assist with info, for travelling Southport- Hull-Rotterdam _ Stadt Moers Germany.
We are from Knowsley, Merseyside, which is twinned with Stadt Moers Germany.
We are going to do the West - East coast (supported) and then onto the boat The other side we will be unsupported

Thanks

First bit is easy, Trans Pennine Trail. The Trail is from coast-to-coast and between Southport and Hull is ~200 miles.
Then Moers is just off the Rhine Cycle Route. ~160 miles.

Does anyone have experience of cycling the Rhine Cycle route i.e. Eurovelo 15?

I have to declare an interest as I am thinking of trying Rotterdam - Mannheim in June. Something about 200 years since Von Drais invented his wheeled-thingy. I have heard that Germany is pumping several million Euros into the celebrations.

We all know that Kirkpatrick Macmillan invented the bicycle. The Draisenne is more like a scooter

Ferry prices can be checked online once you know the dates you want to travel. Plus you also check if there are any cheap deals around your departure dates. ~£200 return.

Accommodation. Camping or hotels ??
Camping and you can just turn up and I recon on ~£10 per night.
Hotels tend to be if you can book cheap deals in advance or not, at a guess ~£30-£50 if booked in advance.
Add another £10 per day for food, etc.

More accurate info can be found online, Google is your friend ...... :D

I've been doing the Rhine route a week at a time, Cologne to Mannheim or Speyer this time. I'm doing it by Brompton so have been getting the Dutch Flyer ferry (Stena) - with bikes a little more pricey but looking now you should get good prices. Book the ferry now and you'll have to wait till the train prices come out 3 months before you go. I'm looking at train this time too - http://www.seat61.com/Germany.htm is very useful. I've been doing youth hostels and Vrienden Op De Fiets in The Netherlands.
Interested in the Draisenne celebration!
