What will change is the system of governance, not my cultural inheritance.

I am very comfortable identifying myself as British too.
But I am less sure about your other point.
I think my cultural inheritance had been enriched by being in the EU due to increased integration though easier travel, residency and work.
I mean this as a general point not personal experience.
For it is far more culturally enriching to go and live and work amongst other cultures than to merely go for a holiday.
The level of understanding gained is far greater.
I think this is particularly (but not only) the case amongst younger people.

So your cultural inheritance will change in time.
We will become more UK and English language centric than ever.

IMV in a complex world that, in the wrong hands, is a dangerous thing.
And at the moment we are in the wrong hands -the present Govt.- dogmatic, inflexible and incompetent.

Dogmatic, inflexible and incompetent? Sounds like pretty much every government depending on political viewpoint.

So true.
Yet I thought this one deserved special mention!

I have applied the same description to the EU. Maybe it is universal.

my only real brexit concern is that it's game over for the metric system, and it is a real concern.

Quite unlikely, but then again so was a Brexit vote!

At most we will see an end to further metrication. So miles and pints will remain (as they may well have anyway).

Possibly a change in the law (for the sake of political posturing and keeping the Daily Mail happy) allowing commercial scales to be calibrated purely in imperial units in addition to the present metric calibrations.
Not only do we have a lot to lose with going out of standardisation with the rest of Europe, it would also take us out of standardisation with much of the rest of the world and our own country.

Mr Erdogan has just said

"If Europe continues this way, no European in any part of the world can walk safely on the streets," Mr Erdogan told journalists in Ankara.

Are we included in this prediction, even when we stop being 'officially European?

Maybe pounds shillings and pence could be reintroduced

12d =1s

20s = GBP 1

Well, if Erdogan said it then it must be true.
Trustworthy, clearheaded fellow that he is.

Now if you Remainers start threatening me with reintroduction of Imperial measurements I may have to rethink leaving the EU. I like Metric.

After all the endless discussion, the solution is so simple,
Isn't it always just so?!

To undo the result of 23/06 all we have to do is go back to Pounds Shillings and Pence etc.

In for a penny, in for a pound!!

I'll be the Guinea Pig!
Pun intended.

:lol:
to be honest i could go for either, i've been forced to use imperial since leaving school anyway. it would just be nice to round everything off.

i'm not a remainer, i spoiled. granted that's one up from sitting home and watching star trek when it's time to vote, but if more political agnostics did it then maybe the low turn outs wouldn't be so vague... eh russel brand?
