Hey all, can some one advice on what is the Best Puncture resistant tyre + Good Grip... (700 X 28c)
Purely for commuting purpose.i don't mind if its heavy or bulky or bit dearer or ugly or not good for speed.
I do know that frequency of puncture depends totally on the quality of the road....
I get roughly 1 puncture every month... (Roughly 450 Miles drive per month.) (Feltham to hangerlane ride)
I have used Continental GatorSkin and Schwalbe Marathon plus in the past. Not a huge difference between them in therms of puncture resistant... But the problem with Marathon it splits big on contact with sharp stones..
Problem with Continental GatorSkin is not the best grip in wet. (I have skid many times with that.)
My current one is Continental Grand Prix 4 Season Folding Road Tyre. Not good in terms of puncture resistant - I am planing to replace after 2500 miles.. But Grip is better than others.. (I took almost 15 small stone particles from the tyre yesterday after the last puncture..)
Grip is the most important thing for me followed by puncture resistant ... If I could get those two , that would do for me.

Re: Best Puncture resistant tyre
Schwalbe Marathon Plus is the best in my experience for puncture resistance (and it has tread) although the OP has found these split.
Re: Best Puncture resistant tyre
Schwalbe Delta Cruiser is kevlar-based rather than smartguard, so it's a bit less resistant but hopefully shouldn't split as easily on sharp stones. The tyre is also Basic Compound rather than the harder Endurance.
With any tyre, it's worth checking it over occasionally to remove sharp objects before they get hammered through or can move side-to-side enough to cause a cut.

MJR, mostly pedalling 3-speed roadsters. KL+West Norfolk BUG incl social easy rides http://www.klwnbug.co.uk

Are you riding on sealed (tarmac etc) roads?
I commute on Marathon plus and can remember my last puncture, on the way home last day before Christmas 2015, 7000 miles ago. I do have to pick bits of glass out of them every now and then as the underpasses near my house are covered in broken bottles.
If I was going to recommend a road tyre for with some puncture resistance and good grip it would be Conti GP 4 season and for puncture resistance Marathon plus.
If you are puncturing and struggling for grip on off-road sections then perhaps you need a cyclo-cross tyre? However, these are wider than 28 mm and may require wider rims.

I ride only in Roads and platforms next to road. It is poorly cleaned roads causing to accumulate the stone gravels in the side of the road and stupid people breaking the beer glass or what ever in the road...

7000 miles is only my commuting milage, in that time I will have done another 6000 miles leisure riding on either Schwalbe Duran-plus of Ultremo ZX tyres without a puncture.
My commute is in the UK between Bristol and Bath. A-road/underpass full of glass/A-road full of pot holes/shared cycle-foot path/backstreets & city centre roads. 20 km each way.
Do you keep getting punctures in the same place on the wheel? Could be a spoke eyelet not covered by the rim tape or a small burr on the rim.
Re: Best Puncture resistant tyre
A good cheap Marathon is the Green guard one at about £16 from many places - is better than the Kevlar one it replaced.
Re: Best Puncture resistant tyre
WRT M+, I remember reading about there being some dodgy ones a while ago (fakes?). All the ones I've used have been good, no splits, used in all sorts of hostile conditions.

Marathon plus for me
Re: Best Puncture resistant tyre
I'm on a Schwalbe Delta Cruiser and a Michelin City tyre at present, have used Schwalbe Marathons and Continental Gatorskins in the past.
To be honest, as long as the tyre's from a reputable manufacturer and has a puncture guard layer I've rarely noticed any difference (The exception being the Gatorskins which weren't anywhere as tough as I required).
