Petition to improve the Canal du Midi towpath
As those that have ridden it know, the CdM towpath has sections which have seen better days. If you would like to put your voice to those calling for it to be improved, here's a petition that I encourage you to sign: https://www.change.org/p/carole-delga-p ... -cyclistes

Depends on where you are talking about - west of the watershed it is brilliant - they were resurfacing bits last year - east of the watershed then it's OKish to Castelnaudry - from there you are better off taking dire t roads or following the Herault signs to Adge - I've always been a bit surprised that the whole thing hasn't been made more off - however they have had to cut a lot of access roads in the eastern we took to facilitate tree felling and replanting so I suspect there may be some major improvements in the next few years
Edit - read it and signed it - if it did become joined up it would make a good route for a lot of people

What they really need to do is replace all those huge beautiful old trees. Really quickly.

Try it on a recumbent trike.
It's hard work and slow.
I think my speed along it once I left the tarmac section traveling up from the med was sub-5 mph.
I tried to follow it twice on the grass sections and both times gave up and went back to the roads until the path became tarmac just before Toulouse.
