Courting danger or a.... man?

Re:Courting danger or a.... man?
Of course you would have a lawful claim against the council but you might not get very far.
what simore you could not make them sing for court costs becoz if you don't pay councils they have ways of makin' ya pay.
I like Braz's campaign please will you all join my 'save a pole a day' campaign!.
Great idea. Sustrans sends their rangers round to do these tasks; everything depends on their competence.

Gar - if it takes x Sustrans workers to change a lightbulb, what chance of them listening to us and doing anything about saving the poles!
It's always the same - if you give people money they spend it 'any old how' - if people have to earn the money first they make very sure that none of it is wasted! Ask any self-employed businessman!

I think the same about Sustrans and its money raising. One wonders what happens to it all and I don't believe there are public accounts for it.

Re:Courting danger or a.... man?
Braz, Would you really like to have money that you had paid in Council tax used to pay LA staff to peruse numerous internet forums on the chance that there might be someone complaining about facilities in that LA area?
Just consider your posting again, because that is what you appear to be asking for.
If you see defects in signing then please, on behalf of your fellow cyclists, write a letter to the appropriate LA, or to Sustrans.

Re:Courting danger or a.... man?
RE saving poles why just not bombard sustrans with emails surely after they have had several hundred on the same subject they will take notice and do something?
Alternatively cycling groups could do a press release to the effect they refuse to use these paths maintained by sustrans until proper signage is installed?

Re:Courting danger or a.... man?
Heres another thought on how cycle tracks could be kept up to scratch why not use persons sentenced to community service to do it after all it wouldnt cost the local authority anything (apart from equipment) and the persons on cs would be helping the local community
Anyone agree?

Re:Courting danger or a.... man?
Spanner, Community service conscripts would still cost the local authority money, because these people have to be supervised, closely.
Now I am getting out of this thread before I lose my marbles, as everyone else has in here.

Re:Courting danger or a.... man?
Would you all please help Mike 6 look for his marbles - he seems to have mislaid them somewhere......if I see any around I'll tie them to one of the many surplus Sustrans/LA poles that abound between Aviemore and Carrbridge - must have bought a job lot and did not know where to put them........I only mention this because we seem to have a shortage here in Lancashire and I'm jealous....regards to you all, Braz.

This is a phenomenal thread with everybody slanging everybody else. I'm just so disappointed!

No-one is being bad-mouthed, it's a fair exchange of views which is the purpose of these boards. If you are too sensitive or naive to appreciate the comments, why not follow Harry and the vicar into the wilderness, or are you all one and the same person?

Re:Courting danger or a.... man?
TJ, with such a charming and diplomatic response to the less than understanding message by 'Happiness' you must surely be a diplomat. If you are such a beast, please apply to No. 10 Downing Street, to replace the current sound bite.
'Happiness' - don't think so badly about us - we are not slanging anyone off - just exercising our democratic right to free speech, whilst at the same time wondering what on earth Sustrans and the LA's do with all the money that they are given....an open forum for the miscreants to respond in, but so far - zilch from them. Are we surprised - of course not! ! Save the poles!

Re:Courting danger or a.... man?
Re community service persons needing supervision thats just to make sure they do the job they are assigned and dont slope off down the pub when they are supposed to be doing community service !
The reason i suggested community service persons to clean cycle paths is that they are transient(that means there will always be persons sentenced to community service) so therefore it could be an ongoing project besides which the person supervising works for the community service unit and is usually a retired police officer
