Does anyone know where I can get a pair of decent or preferably NOS Mavic module E's in 700c /silver 36 hole? or similar...

I wish you better luck than I used to have with them. Mine always cracked. I stopped using Mavic for years until I built the present hack MTB, - and I'm not convinced I did the right thing using them for that.
If at first you don't succeed - cheat!!

I must admit I have never had a problem with Mavic rims, I have been running 27x1/4" Module E's on my 1949 Webster of Chesterfield for around 5 years ...but having said that it doesn't do that much mileage!
They need'nt be Mavics, any 'old' type eyeletted silver 700c's would do from the mid-late 1970's.
