nancy strasbourg colmar freiburg route

we are travelling out with bike express to nancy this summer with a view to cycling along the canal to strasbourg then canal side to colmar and then over the rhine to cycle to freiburg; we want to do this in 2 weeks in august spending a few days in each town and then getting the train back from frieburg to nancy to get the express coach home;
has anyone done anything like this
do you have any tips
can you recommend b and b s on the route of the canals or cheap hotels in the cities

This is a lovely area for cycling. I only have experience as a driver but I will watch with interest as I would love to do more cycling in this region. Freiburg, Colmar and Strasbourg are beautiful cities; have only driven past Nancy in a hurry to Mulhouse, so cannot say anything about it.

Have just read your posting from last March, did you manage to find a route along the canal, if so can you post some information as we are looking to cycle from Nancy to Strasburg to pick up the Rhine. Thanks
