Do you still insist on cycling in that way?

You haven't changed a bit.
I wear odd socks habitually and folk say words to the effect: "You're wearing odd socks!"
My reply is usually, "They're no to odd, they're just different colours!"
I was out riding yesterday in dark blue on the left and turquoise on the right.
The other day, they were yellow and black, and before that dark blue and green.

I also have this affliction, and have done so for years. Its quite amazing , that on a bike, with one blue sock, and one...pink one, HOW MANY PEOPLE laugh, point at me, slow down so their kids can point and laugh. But you see, I'm not eccentric, just ecceedingly chuffed that they have actually seen me at all.

Odd socks are normally supplied in pairs - the ones you are wearing and the ones in the drawer at home.Mick F wrote:You haven't changed a bit.![]()

Back in the days of plus fours 2 clubmates who rode a tandem had bright red and bright yellow long socks. Both red on one side, both yellow on the other

When you think about it, why wouldnt you weaf odd socks? The amount of your life time that you would waste ru maging through your sock draw trying to match them up....just doesnt bear thinking about. I'd rather be riding.
Of course you could pair them up after the wash and fold the tops over to keep them together, but then you get baggy tops and premature sock fall. In that way lies madness.

These people are in the same category of those who, when you come out of a cafe, tell you you've got a flat tyre. I'm still trying to come up with a suitable response.Mick F wrote:I wear odd socks habitually and folk say words to the effect: "You're wearing odd socks!"

Did you wear them to school?
I went to school with a lad from Didcot who was sometimes attired so!
Timescale is correct!

In 1957 I rode my first massed start. Lied about my age! White shoes would have been laughed at.

I reckon you started the trend for the riding position now known as 'Frooming'.
