Having spent the last two summer holidays touring the Outer Hebrides and Norwegian Lofoten Islands my mind is already thinking where next!? Planning possibly two tours for 2018 and wondered if anyone had any suggestions, advice on my tentative plans?
Tour 1: Spring Bank Holiday half term: Oban-Mull-Iona-Tobermory-Ardnamurchan-Mull-Oban
Tour 2: Summer holiday (unfortunately restricted to school holidays!) Fly to Graz then cycle-Wolfsburg-Klagenfurt- Bled- Gorizia- Trieste- Ljubljana back through Slovenia to Graz. Going for 2 weeks. Not a set route but fancy doing multiple countries and Slovenia looks stunning.
Any suggestions??

This afternoon I booked my flight with Turkish airlines from Edinburgh to Addis Ababa for next February.
Just 4/5 weeks.
Cycling north to Lake Tana, source of the Nile.
( One off the sources!)
£450 return. Hotels/hostels+ food should be less than £20/day.
Your Tour1 will be good. I covered much of that area on my Scottish end to end tour.
Restrictions to school holidays limit things somewhat.
Even as semi retired I find numerous factors come into play when planning ahead.
Getting to the airport with bike is always a pain for me.
But then the overcoming the challenges is rewarding.

This is a thread about going to Slovenia. The OP has now returned and said that they are willing to answer any queries which could be useful for you. I was also considering Slovenia for next a two week tour next summer.

Just returned from my annual Mull visit...
The roads have been getting busier year on year. The largely single-track road between Craignure and Fionnphort is tedious at times; there are lots of tour buses on this route so better to pick a time in the middle of the day or after the ferry has stopped running to use this route.
The road between Kinloch (nr Pennyghael) and Salen, to get between Iona and Tobermory, also has buses on it. At some points, there is little space to gain refuge (cliff on one side and a drop to the sea on the other) when wide vehicles come along -they tend not to stop in passing places despite the places being long enough.
The Mull roads are in pretty good condition -there are cattle grids but they are OK. And the scenery is stunning.
