does anyone know of any good cycling /walking maps for Nerja in Spain thinking of light touring on tracks/ paths and little if any roads.

Don't know of anything specific around Nrja. The 1:50,000 maps are pretty good & generally show enough vehicle & other useable tracks. The don't show rights of way so you may get turned back from your chosen route. Get them from Stamfords & such.

Further north there are plenty of specialist maps covering the Alpujarras. I've used the very reliable Sierra Nevada 1:50,000 published by Editorial Penibetica - I've only seen it in Spain. More widely available is the Editorial Alpina 1:40,000 of the same area. I've used maps in the same series elsewhere & found them pretty good - watch out for what they define as vehicle tracks though! Available from Amazon or Stamfords. Also available is the Tour & Trail map by Dave & Ros Brawn. I've used their map of La Gomera. Generally reliable but the actual cartography could do with a full revision & simplification - too much clutter in places rather than useable detail. Aound towns was garbage but once in the open very good. Get from Amazon.

I'm sure you will come across others when you get there. There must be a good map/book shop in Malaga but not found it yet.

cheers Harry , I was thinking of 1:25'000 really, but if all else fails I will get one ,in fact I will probably order one of Amazon anyway just in case a 1:25'000 isn't available.
