London - Whitehaven, 3 bikes

train company websites are bit vague and the person on Rail Enquires sounded confused. Does anybody know if three of us can get our bikes on the the same London-Carlisle-Whitehaven trip, and would we have to reserve on both the Virgin and Northern Rail legs?

You don't have to reserve on ANY Virgin train bit if you do they look for you and even wait. It can be difficult to find the luggage van and by the time you have found it, it is leaving!

I've done the carlisle to whitehaven part with two bikes but two other riders who turned up after us had to wait for the next train. I think the limit is 2 officially but a little charm may go a long way!
