My girls are coming home tomorrow!

Post by Manx Cat »

My daughters are 12 and 15, and my brother is working in New Delhi for a 12 month contract, so he suggested they went out there on holiday, Ali collected them in teh UK and took them out, and now its the end of a fantastic experience as they prepare to come home.

They have had a fantastic time. Topped off with a Tiger safari. They were so lucky, as they spotted a tiger walking peacefully along the highway! lol

They have camped out, done a safari shopped in Delhi ate lots of curry of course and managed to find time to chill out as well.

My brother is brilliant, not only has he given my lasses a real life experiance that Chas and I would never be able to do, but he has done all of this in his own time of his own will, and he hasnt got kids either! Not bad for a bloke this, and TEENAGERS too! lol

Tomorrow is the day of worries though.

Beth called me today to let me know about the tiger experience and said that tomorrow is their last day of shopping etc..... My blood pressure rose slightly as I said I was picking up her and Rosie from the IOM airport at 3.15pm!

It seems Ali (my brother) thought they left at 1.50am on Sunday (India time) not 1.50am on SATURDAY! lol Nearly a real ooops then!

AND

Im worried about the journey home as the girls are travelling this bit as unaccompanied minors and with all the hulaballo that BA had with the new terminal and folks luggage, I can only hope they dont lose my kids!

The girls get dropped off at Delhi by my brother, arrive at Heathrow, then go to Manchester, then to IOM. So a lot of plane changes and they are not street wise girls I might add....

I am going to be a worried mum over the next 24 hours, but looking forward SOOOOoooo much to seeing my lasses back home.

What a great holiday. You must have missed them.
I am sure they will be very sensible and manage ok, as long as they know where to go ask if they get stuck. It will be a great learning experience for them.

Yes, Chas and I have missed them terribly...

No queue for the bathroom,
Cottage has remained tidy for nearly 10 whole days,
No flour in the kitchen (youngest is a cake baking freak!)
No bickering
No 'mum being taxi driver'
Chas and I havent had to be 'quiet.... '
No constant phone calls that are for them not us, (mobiles dont work in our house).
I can use the washing machine whenever I want and its empty.
Tumble dryer is never full of damp, still to be dried clothes.....

Yep, we have missed them loads! lol

Don't worry, Manx Cat. I'm sure your girls will be very safe. I used to worry so much about horrible things happening to my kids. However, they showed me that I was more often than not surplus to requirements! They travelled as unaccompanied minors on a few occasions with no problems.

For you, there are two of them and I am sure they will manage together. Perhaps in a few years' time they will 'drop' some hair-raising information that you will be glad they didn't tell you at the time!! They have had a fabulous opportunity and I know what you mean about enjoying the quiet! We are together as a family for the first time since Christmas (Scottish universities don't always observe Easter!)

 wow, you've only got 2.... i have 3 teenage and one 10 year old daughters. Having 4 girls here at weekends and holiday times means having bra's, knickers and girly things strewn all about the place, bickering ocaisionally, lots of noise, mobile phones going off at regualar intervals, emptying of food stores
The dryer is always on, it can take on average of 2 hours before i get into the bathroom in the mornings, i cant watch the news etc...only music channels  and the place looks like a war-zone when they go home.... but i love it really :D :D

Well after a day of total hell, they finally got back to the island.

Let me mention terminal 5 .... just once.....

They lost the girls......

They lost the luggage.......

No one could tell us where the lasses were, their mobile phones ran out of credit, then out of charge.

Eventually got a call from Beth that they were at manchester, having missed the connective journey as the Delhi flight was 4 hours late arriving to T5.

WOW.....

Just like childbirth, I can forget the last 24 hours now they are back home in the nest where they belong....

They saw TIGERS! WOW.... got some lovely pictures, and will try to get some on here. Rosie thankfully had her camera in her hand baggage, whereas Beths camera is still at heathrow.

Well they are home and no doubt had a great experience and have learned to cope with travelling.

This is not criticism, just a comment. I well remember my 15 yr old cuz and her friends going on holiday to Cornwall (they all had been banned from going to the IOW pop festival), on the Friday parents all received calls that they were diverting via IOW on their journey home!!!!!!
That's initiative for you. What still amazes as I look back that it was thought ok for a group of 15 yr olds to go on holiday on their own!
