Ok Ok I know it's not cycle touring but...
..Congratulations to team GB for the fantastic riding and entertainment they have given us over the past 5 days. What an electric atmosphere at the velodrome.
Just a pity no one thought to do any merchandising this year (as in past years) with our team being so successful.

I have been at the velodrome every day and now I can hardly speak as I have shouted myself hoarse.
The atmosphere has been electric every day and the racing has been absolutely awesome.
I am not sure which event has been the best but Chris Hoys rides in the sprint which isn't his natural event probably edges it for me.

Brilliant entertainment and compulsive viewing.
I also think that for a change the commentators did a great job, particularly through the very confusing Madison.
and is that not the smartest GB kit of all time?
As the streets are full of replica England kit it's about time that cyclists started flying the flag too, I'd but one (provided I could have a baggy one to hide the waistline)

Anybody explaining cycle racing usually has to spend a lot of time explaining that the one in front is not in the best position and the one tucked in on his wheel is the likely winner. Chris Hoy has destroyed that wisdom. Theyed have been struggling to pass him on motorbikes.
Incidentally, I'm old enough to remember when the taunt shouted at any passing cyclist with drop handlebars was "It's Reg Harris." The commentators mentioned several times that we had not won the sprint for the last 54 years but I never heard his name mentioned. He did win 5 rainbow jerseys in the sprint, one amateur, four pro. Well worth a mention. And the commentator Hugh Porter was no slouch in the pursuit ( four times world champion - a question Chris Boardman fluffed on 'A Question of Sport.' a ew years ago.)

You are lucky if that's all you've had to explain...I've had to explain, several times, that the bloke with the bandy legs on the motorbike isn't actually a contestant in the race

I wondered why he pulled off

[quote="ianr1950"]You could put Chris Hoy in a Marvel Man suit and he would look great.
Should have seen him and the rest of the GB sprinters a few years ago, when they wore black spray on Team Athena skinsuits, another missed trick; no calendar pin ups produced
Not sure when I heard it but there was one occasion when a commentator did mention that the last British winner of the sprint gold was Reg Harris.

I remember that kit, wasn't it about 2002 or thereabouts? I can remember when Chris, Craig Mclean and others were just starting out on the track and they were pretty good then.
Chris is another who was a BMX rider and also he was a rower as well.
