Clocks Going Forward
Re: Clocks Going Forward
what seems to be new is the my pc no longer confirms with me about changeing the time - it just happens without a mention
Re: Clocks Going Forward
I only got a warning, I think, if I was booting up a PC not connected to the internet. Otherwise the clock change is silent.
Suppose that this room is a lift. The support breaks and down we go with ever-increasing velocity.

Some people on here have eight or more bikes but does one need eight cameras?
Mind, I have a lot of books, more than 8 x 8 x 8
How does my digital camera keep the time when switched off, does it have a tiny inexhaustible battery?
Well, the count is actually just 7 since the missus half-inched one of my DLSRs. List:
- the full-frame DSLR
- the APS-C DSLR (for use when the other one might get damaged)
- the street camera (single focal length, very quiet sneaky shutter, great ergonomics)
- the 1" sensor "enthusiast" compact
- the waterproof cycling camera
- the small 1" sensor mirrorless
- the somewhat larger 1" sensor mirrorless with viewfinder
- the wretched damned Olympus 4:3 camera with lousy resolution that I've advertised 3 times with nobody biting
Nope, that is 8. Musta bin 9 before the missus burgled my camera cupboard.
Anyway, re your camera: the clock runs off a built-in accumulator (what people call a rechargeable these days) which in turn is charged from the main battery. The accu also maintains your settings when the battery is out.
Have we got time for another cuppa?

Hi,
I have found that cameras etc that the keep time and settings tends to fail as device ages, modern designs if you keep up with contemporary gadgets are probably better.

Aye well, they're not consumer durables any more. I bought my old Olympus OM-2 in 1980 and used it for >20 years with just 3 or 4 lenses, changed the battery every blue moon and never thought of buying anything else*. Bought my first digital in 2001 and I've had about 15 cameras since.
*lie: when they first came out I did look at a Nikon F3 with lecherous eyes, but the budget said no.

You weren't tempted by that Leica prototype that recently went for 2.4 million Euros then?

Roll film is still available, who uses it, is it completely superseded?
I love digital photography, just have a little camera but I occasionally take 150+ pics a day (more than 4 35mm films)
One piece of progress that no-one can gainsay?

Re: Clocks Going Forward
Going off topic here but.....
there are a few enthusiasts still using roll film, with a dedicated bunch preferring it to digital, especially for B&W work.
I was a bit reluctant to go digital originally but haven't looked back.
On our three week tour of Scotland I returned home to find I'd taken 864 digital photos.
One would never have rattled that many off with expensive film and processing.
Once I'd uploaded mine and edited them, I still ended up with over 340 saved copies, so it was worth taking such a vast amount.
I'll be starting a new topic off shortly regarding photo prints, so keep your eyes peeled.
fausto.

Re: Clocks Going Forward
Hi,
The tip from pros on taking photos is to take more of them.
Photo editing is a doddle nowadays with computers, enhance and crop.
I borrowed a digi camera for a while................colour was bloody awful, this was £400 but in 90's.................
Just recently bought a digi camera for £30 of ebay second hand........does everything.
Had several kodak digi cameras, they don't last long before they pack up....

Sunrise Time!
Druid Time!!
The new fast railways necessitated the introduction of a common nationwide standard.
Isambard and Kingdom are grand names, why are they so rare? Elvis too

Friend of ours refuses to own a camera as they feel the iPhone does everything that they will ever need!

Moving the stones!!
However the old people used a clock that never (well never's a longtime) needed resetting.
So some advantage to doing things the old way!!
