Any tips?
My LBS (inlc. wheel builder has advised ) that 700 x 28 wheel has dents in rim.
Is it possible to straighten rim out?
Any tips?
Doe s it involve inserting a wooden block were the tube would go and then pressing the 2 eims together in a vice (ie againast the block)
Thanks in advance

Generally not possible to achieve a good result. I don't understand the title - either the rim is straight or it's bent!
If a rim's bent -fit a new one.

I've done it before but the rim cracked through a year later exactly where the dent had been.

I attempted with very little success. Even though, it was barley noticeable with my hand, braking it was very obvious.

I have a wheel with an Open Pro rim that has undergone that sort of dent straightening and it is correct that as the material has been stretched it won't go back perfectly, but my LBS gave it a go with no guarantees and it is fine. You have to look closely to see where the dent was and, crucially, the braking feels almost normal. There is a slight hint of a pulse, but no grabbing. LBS man said he had a tool for the job but I am sure it basically involves the rim wall being compressed between two sympathetically shaped bits of metal. Nowt to lose really.
How much would a new rim cost? There are people here who will guide you through swapping rims if you decide to go that way.
