Re: bagman quick release
Hmm, spooky, I rode along a bridleway with a Bagman this am and one of the steel rails on my Brooks saddle snapped. The break is between the Bagman support and the seatpost clamp. I can't say for sure if the twisting force of the Bagman on the saddle rails was a contributory factor, but I will be carefully examining the Bagmen(?) on two other bikes, one attached to a Brooks TI railed saddle and the other to a steel railed one, to look for anything out of the ordinary.
The saddle is 20+ years old, and the Bagman is about 6 years old. I have had no problems with either on mixed roads / tracks / bridleways until now, so yesterday my answer to the OP question would have been "probably OK" but today it has changed to "probably a bit less OK"!
Yet another outing for the 8mm releasable zip ties I always carry around to get me home when things break!
I will look out for / try to fabricate a support as shown in the post above. That can only help make things less swing-y.
I will try and take a close-up picture of the break before I remove the Bagman in case anyone here can tell anything useful from the appearance and location of the snap.
