Stove connector seal/washer ?

Hi All

I've just dusted off my lovely Higear stove, as I'm planning on another trip.

As stated on my Youtube review of the stove some years ago, it's a Hi Gear stove but is exactly the same as the Vango stove.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3QN3Qtz_V9g&t=3s

I see that on the connector ( to the cartridge ) the seal/ washer has become corroded /erroded.

I used to use an adaptor so I could use Camping Gaz cartridges . This wasn't a problem as it was always connected to the adaptor.

On this trip I want to use the "normal" cartridges which are the screw type.

The only thing is is that when screwing it on there is a lot of gas that comes out.

One question is ..... is this fairly normal ?
or is it due to the seal/ washer being corroded?

and the other question is ..... Where could I find suh a washer ? I've tried Higear and Vango and other places on the net.

Any ideas ?

Thanks !

Tryy asking on Classic Camp Stoves. There are regular questions about gas stoves and someone should know where to get new seals.

That's interesting. I've got a double burner in the shed that belongs to the Scouts. I've been looking for a seal for the connector where the hose from the Calor cylinder comes in. It's definitely not a classic, but it is quite a decent stove and worth saving.

You should replace it with a Nitrile o-ring of the appropriate size.

Thanks for the replies.

I contacted Vango's customer service and they've sent me out 2 new washers free.

Sorted !

How's that for service !
