And lots of stamps to collect?
My new 2018 passport has pages of flimsy paper, the 2008 one was much more robust

A British passport is still one of the 'best'in the world I understand, allows visa-free visits to many countries

Cycling-of course, but it is far better on a Gillott

Ok, so the EU doesnt issue them but several EU member countries do and we have been accepting them instead of passports. This will cease.

It was a mistake to go back to blue passports. The should have a large Union Flag on the front so johnny foreigner knows better than to trifle with us  ( and the stars and stripes on the back?)

Back in the nineteenth century, I believe, the identifying mark of a Brit abroad was that he didn't have to carry a passport, while other nationalities did. Surely this is the situation that we should return to, and I'm sure other nations will be happy to accept it. After all they need us more than we need them. I'm told.

Not quite. Passports as we know them today were only really introduced with WW1. Prior to that, a passport was issued by the country you were visiting; it was literally a pass-port.

I'm absolutely ecstatic that we've given those Euro scoundrels a punch in the eye by reversing the decision we made to change to red passports.

I'm even more ecstatic that one of my Grandparents was a horrible foreigner, so I've been able to claim Irish citizenship through him - just in case I need to look at a red passport from time to time to remind myself of how much better my blue one is...

The EU based pickpocket gangs that operate in Central London preying on tourists who make serial visits here on differing fake id cards was the sort of dastardly Europeans I was thinking of Pete...

Still got an old passport, valid through 2028, with some nice pictures of locomotive engines and the like

Fact .. The EU did not enforce Burgundy passports
Fact... It was an independent UK decision to change form blue passports
Fact ...The whole claim otherwise and making the return to blue passports as some sort of Brexit victory are said pathetic lies

The claims by the Government are corrupt and dishonest lies

We (the Brits that is) are joint 13th for 'the best passport to have' ,although that is while we are still in the EU. Hopefully we won't loose any further ground next year.

I did note a couple' of weeks ago that easy and relatively cheap to get Russian E-Visas were being extended to all EU countries, excluding Britain.

Being a member of the G7 also helps. The bottom line in ease of entry is reciprocity. If we get tough, they get tough.

The best passports to hold in 2019 are:
Japan, Singapore (190 destinations)
Finland, Germany, South Korea (188)
Denmark, Italy, Luxembourg (187)
France, Spain, Sweden (186)
Austria, Netherlands, Portugal (185)
Belgium, Canada, Greece, Ireland, Norway, United Kingdom, United States, Switzerland (184)

Which six countries can the Japs and Singaporeans visit that we can't?
Do any of us want to go there?

Off the top of my head, and with no research, I'd say some of the ASEAN countries for starters.

Not sure I can name 6 that would count so maybe there are a couple of others elsewhere.

Cambodia, Lao, Myanmar and Indonesia. I think all others let Brits in on short entry schemes.

And yes I know a few people who would like to go to these countries visa free. I am one and I suspect many posters here have offspring, if not themselves who have visited some of these countries.

I am currently using my $50 3 month Vietnam visa as free entry here is only 15 days.

Superb cycling on excellent roads that put the British potholed cart tracks to shame.
