yeah that's funny PW, but if you partake in revenge, it'll become like the cold war arms race (perhaps it already is?) we vulnerable ones will not win a vandalistic, violent, battle against tonnes of steel controlled by clarksonites

I was out at the weekend walking in countryside Im not too familiar with. I thought Id just about timed it right catching an hourly bus, but no, it was 5 minutes early and i saw it disappear. Oh well I sit down to wait an hour. 15 minutes later a Subaru Imprezza with 2 youths pulls up. You know the sort - big exhaust, windows open, stereo etc Theyd seem me waiting and thought they could give me a lift to the next village where there was a better choice of busses. I sorta agreed and got in half expecting them to show me what the car could do, but no - the guy drove sensibly, even slowed down at the 40mph zone and all were sociable, asked me where I was going and even sussed out the bus stop for me. Appearance wise they looked sterotypical yoofs, the reality was somewhat different.

A few years ago my friend (doctor) and his brother (teacher) were driving in his sporty car through a more 'socially disadvantaged' part of the city when the police pulled them over and quizzed them for half an hour on the insurance, ownership etc. and he was asked to 'produce'.

Admittedly both were in early 20s and they were driving back from the airport having been to Africa (to volunteer/work), they must have looked like a right couple of yoofs!

Don't always judge a book by its cover.

I must be fairly fortunate, never had any grief!
As a serving plod I must say don't do the damage thing, chances are you will be seen and get done!
Verbal abuse - smile and think there is another one who is so insecure in their life they must do something to make them feel good.
Anything physical or that could be classed as driving without due care / dangerous get the number and if possible details of witnesses & report to police.
Do not be fobbed off with 'not a police matter' it is!
If someone physically touches you / throws something it is an assault!

In my job I get to see plenty of pillocks get away with stuff, I always rely on the Karma thing to make me feel better!

I want to say how generally civil and respectful 99% of motorists are towards cyclists, giving a wide berth, signaling to pass and waiting patiently behind if it is not safe to overtake. I can honestly say I can't remember any of the bad attitude or abuse that you read about, just the odd bits of carelessness by motorists which can be forgiven.

I know of someone who, when riding through a remote fenland village, had a dead dog thrown at him. He doesn't use that road anymore.

as im a quick cyclist...they stopped at the end of the road at a service station...and i cycled over to them

spoke to the driver and asked what was all the swearing for???
he says it wasnt him...shifts the blame ASAP to his mate!
his mate then denies everything...

told him next time to put himself in my shoes!

then cycled off...as headed down the road the idiot hurled more abuse!

lol!

back to the ways to damage a car thing...

I have a metal end to my handlebars, if the car just drives past and shouts something i dont really care!

If they try and get stupidly close to me as in town a couple of times it just ends with a huge scratch down both of their doors!
