Casual bike use without helmets found to be no more dangerous than regular bike users with helmets

I've sometimes wondered myself whether in places where cycle helmet use has been normalised for virtually all kinds of cycling whether seeing people riding without helmets affects how people perceive the safety of cycling and the need to wear a helmet. The findings of this study do seem to suggest that the lack of helmet wearing by utility cyclists has a slightly infectious element in that the more people there are cycling without helmets the less people are likely to feel that helmets are necessary for cycling safely.

In fact was the last MP to propose a helmet law not Eric Marylee? Unless you think a Labour MP is right wing? I suppose it depends how far left you are?

The UK has - at least since the death of John Smith - been a one-party state. There is no mainstream 'left-wing' party anymore.
