Can Maps on a Garmin SD card be transferred between head units, please?

I have a Garmin Edge Touring which came complete with Routeable Map of Europe on an SD card. Can I just put that card in my Garmin Edge 810 to use the maps with that device? Or do I need to get something specific to the 810, please?

To the best of my knowledge the maps can be swapped between devices.

I have swapped an sd card with ordnance survey maps from Garmin 810 to 1030 with no problems

Yep.
Mine were with my Garmin Edge 705, and now with my Garmin Montana.
................. and you can copy them too.

I have an 810 and when I need a map for a region that I don't have I create one using open source mapping (free). Whilst my 810 has a garmin map I have created a UK open source map for a friend. When I used it I thought that the open source map was better than the garmin one -it had more detail and POIs
