I am commuting to Westminster from Hampton Court and am looking from alternate paths.
Current path is Thames path to Kingston, Richmond park Kingston Gate and out the Robin Hood gate and along the bike path beside the A3 and into Wandsworth and over Chelsea bridge and along embankment.

A change of scenery and a few less hills... could be a good thing.

I would go Bushey Park,Teddington Lock footbridge,Ham Common,Ham Gate straight through Richmond Park passed the Royal Ballet School to Roehampton Gate,follow the bike path to Barnes then join the Thames towpath,cross Putney Bridge take the signed bike route to Lots Road Chelsea and the the Embankment all the way to Westminster much better then the A3.
There's a lot of other cycle commuters on this route.
