Aye,now that it's been made public that he has been receiving such donations.
It begs the question whether it's the first time it's happened and if so why ?

I thought it was public knowledge that this was not the first time. eg See today's Private Eye which is not published online

The statement makes it sounds like it's been a regular thing, bit like "the Prince will no longer be eating kippers at breakfast".

And today the Head of State will be advised about the future of the Head of Government. We don't know who will be giving that advice, how they were selected or what advice they will give. This isn't democratic, transparent or accountable.

Like it or not the queen has considerable popular support. Much of that won't survive her reign but in the meantime, little in that sphere of our public life will change.
