I received the newsletter yesterday morning (17 May), this was the key item for me:-
"We’ve received a call from contractors advising us that the paths alongside the A74 are shut. Work on upgrading this road to motorway status will be completed in early 2009, then cyclists will be able to use the all purpose route alongside it. In the meantime if you are on two wheels it is best to use the A7 / A6071 via Longtown."
One of our members is currently doing the End to End, so I had to ring around to find his mobile number. I called and left a message on his voicemail. I later received a call thanking me, but he was planning to use the Longtown route anyway.
