Can anyone date a SUN Worksop model Mass Start 100, cottered cranks and centre pull brake braze-ons, wrap-over seat stays around seat tube, black and chrome.

Yep
Sun was acquired by Raleigh around 1959/1960. Your bike is a Sun produced by Carlton (also owned by Raleigh) at their Worksop premises. It should be a proper lightweight frame from the 1960's. The quality of Sun bikes produced by Raleigh deteriorated to cheap and nasty and the brand was eventually withdrawn. Check the Raleigh website under history as they may give exact dates for the acquisition.

Thanks Chris,
I noticed also that the frame is built of E U U T tubing and has half-chromed front forks and chromed head lugs. The frame number is on the left-hand rear drop-out and is No. K11535 with No. 616579 embossed under the bottom bracket also an oil nipple. A lamp bracket is on the right-hand fork. There is no gear hanger, although there is various eyes and cable guides.
