If it makes anyone here feel better, carbon fibre is made from the waste products of producing petrol, diesel etc...
Yes, and it is already, which is very good news. I seem to remember experts thinking fuel would have to reach £10/gallon before the cost would have an impact, but perhaps just the threat of that is enough. Certainly we've noticed that filling our car up is now more than £50, which feels like some barrier between acceptable running costs and serious expenditure.
Well £5.25 or thereabouts a gallon has done it for me, I was running a car share but the two other have left the area so cycling at least two or three times a week makes really good economic sense and only costs me one-and-a-quarter hours of time.
We've also found that cruising at 65 instead of 70 gives a nice ~15% saving in fuel costs, and makes for a much more relaxed journey.
Tried that but had too many lorries and rep mobiles cutting in on me whereas at an indicated 70 I was overtaking a good few

When towing our caravan we are restricted to 60 mph max - I set the cruise control at 58 / 60 mph and get overtaken by just about everything.
Workhard and
Fonant - yes, very relaxing speed to drive, but yes, some bee-in-the-bonnet drivers seem to cut in as if making a point. Or they could just be cr%p drivers. Fairly scary occasionally. I dislike hanving to brake in order to recreate safe distance between me and the vehicle in front, but defensive driving only best course I fear.

I was wondering what all the fuss was about, but last night I was in the car and realised I was low on petrol. This being only the sixth time I've filled up the tank this year I was shocked to find that it cost me over sixty-five pounds - it's never been over fifty before. Amazing!
The irony was that I was driving home from a meeting of my local Cycling Campaign.
