im looking for campsites in the ardeche region of france.i have looked on the internet can only find 4 -5 star sites and the prices for one person average around 30 euros for one night ,has anybody experince cycle camping there

Not cycle camping as such, but did camp for a couple of nights here for the Ardechoise.

Which I think was a lot cheaper than you're quoting.

Searching Google maps seems to show lots of similar.

The whole area didn't strike me as pricey at all.

Added bonus of both swimming pool and bar. Can't remember how much we paid but I'm sure it wasn't too expensive. There is a another site nearby that is also on Google maps.

while I certainly cant speak for this region, two summers ago I crossed France from near Nantes to Switzerland and we stayed in many campgrounds, and it seems to me the range was from about 10 euros to maybe 20 tops. While I dont recall exactly the most expensive one, it seems to me that there were plenty in the mid range, and some of them had a reduced rate for cycle tourists.

In fact, one I do recall clearly had a discount for bikers, and to top it off, it was in a beautiful setting by a river and had the most wonderful new large kitchen tent for cyclists, fridge, stove, microwave, pots, pans, cutlery, plates, table with chairs, places to hang your washed clothes...
and to top it off, we were alone there so it felt like we had our own private little kitchen house for supper and breakfast.

re your specific request, I think you will find that there are many smaller more simple campgrounds that dont have fancy websites and maybe dont show up on first searches, and will be in the low to mid price range but still perfectly fine (although I guess that depends on your standards, I'm pretty easy going so not fussy)

What price ranges / star ratings did you find ?

good, thats sort of in line with what I recall. Thats the one thing with France, lots of campgrounds and lots that are very reasonably priced with the odd very simple municipal one that is cheap but still ok, with bathroom and shower facilities, and then lots of pretty good ones.

It's a good few years since I cycled in the Ardeche area, but we did not even look ahead, just rolled up and found campsites as and when... on the whole the prices were not expensive and some weren't officially open; this did not mean we could not / did not camp, but it just meant no one was collecting the pennies.

If there are two of you in separate tents they put you both on the same pitch. Half the cost.
