A new study found that 80ug of vitamin D supplement a day reduced the risk of developing AF by a third.

It does beg an obvious question for anyone with AF and a history of severe vitamin D deficiency.

Paper here.

I take carbamazepine for my epilepsy. It is also prescribed for schizophrenia and other mental disorders. My neurologist advised my GP to prescribe 20000 units of Vit D once a fortnight because apparently carbamazepine interferes with the absorption of Vit D. Anybody reading this who takes carbamazepine (trade name often Tegretol) might be well advised to discuss the matter with their GP and/of neurologist.
