I have various bikes with a mixture of bottle & hub dynamos, most with Busch & Muller LED headlights. Performance (ie brightness from lowish speeds upwards) is indistinguishable between the two. However, bottles are superior to hubs in that there is no low-speed flicker (not that I've ever found this to be anything more than a minor annoyance). Best bottle over the years has been the AXA -HR, its oversize rotor never slips and runs quietly.
