Estimating sale value - Cannondale Caad12 Ultegra 2018

Post by Flamin'Nora »

I need to sell my Cannondale Caad12 Ultegrra 2018 road bike that I bought new in 2018. It's in what I'd describe a 'like new' condition and has recently been serviced. I've tried searching online for 2nd hand ones for sale but had no luck so I'm not sure how much to put it up for sale for but thinking in the region of £900 - £1200. How much do you think I can realistically get for it?
I can post pictures if needed.
Thanks in advance

Here's some recently sold ones on ebay.

Something like 60 to 70 percent of whatever the new price was originally would be what I'd look to pay
for a bike of that age and stated condition.

Indeed, that would be the usual guide, however in the current economic climate who knows?

That's true, I suspect a lot of people will be selling stuff to free up cash.

Also people will be loathed to pick up in person off a stranger in the present crisis.

So bikes will need to be posted and that's a risk in and of itself.

Thank you all for your responses.
Where do you think is best to sell the bike? Or perhaps even trade for a hardtail mountain bike? As the only reason I'm selling it is to buy a hardtail.
Thanks in advance

Do some shops offer a sort of 'trade in' deal?

Evans have done so in the past but think generally it's for an old back of the shed type bike.....not sure you will get a decent price for it that way.

I would think at the moment while bike sales are still riding high, is a good time to sell and you may a good price for it.... wait too long and all the lockdown bikes maybe flooding the secondhand market as we head into Autumn and Winter... and prices will fall.
Currently, we've been told, if we were wanting to sell our caravan we could get £1000 over the list price for a caravan of that age and condition...... caravans like bikes are flying out of the showrooms/shops......
Not sure what you paid for it originally but look at starting it at around 70% of what yo paid for it...

Try ebay buy it now and best offer deal as you are totally in control of the price, they offer £1 selling fees every 2 weeks so a bike that sells for £1000 would only cost you £34 in paypal fees if they pay you by paypal, you will get a fantastic price as second hand bikes are going for more than what they are new as new ones are not available, hope this helps.
