Whilst the chances of me falling ill over night are pretty low I think we all need to look at the bigger picture. So it's plan D, I'm sure I'll find lots to do in the garden.

Lets hope that the crowds of people in Snowdonia, the Lakes and on Seaside promenades dont lead to the authorities banning us from taking a ride or walk alone distanced from others.

I went on a ride today. Stayed away from others and stopped on a bench in the middle of nowhere to eat the sandwiches that I'd made. Whilst riding I saw groups of four and five running and six gentlemen aged in their sixties and seventies cycling together. If people carry on like this it is likely that the restrictions that have been brought into place in France and Italy will be introduced here.

I was wondering about the issue of getting extra water - I understand the virus can stay on hard surfaces, which would include taps i assume, for up to 72 hours.
Reason I ask is i am thinking of making a trip up north avoiding public transport.

Some system involving plastic gloves and cleanser should reduce any risk to acceptable levels.

That's my concern too. I went on a short walk yesterday with my wife and daughter. We live together and are behaving as one unit. We social distance from everyone else but not from each other. We walked for a few miles on familiar paths and came close to nobody. We knew that would be the case. We are thinking about where we are going and what conditions we will find when we get there. We can do exactly the same with cycling. We can avoid close proximity to others, and still have a nice ride. It would be a great pity if those with a bit less intelligence ruin our only safe enjoyment by getting it banned.
If a ban did happen, and even if I was still sure I could cycle and hike with no danger, I would comply with the ban because not doing so would add to the bad feeling out there. But I hope it doesn't come to that.

Have you seen the mood on Twitter from Scottish residents re campervans? I wouldn’t go anywhere rural you’ll be murdered in your tent if you don’t catch CV
Keep to your own locale do not be seen as someone who could bring the virus to wherever you go.
Read reports of some shopkeepers telling campervanners to put the food back on the shelf. "It’s for locals".
If we had been an Independent country the border would be closed and all these campervans would have been turned around.

I have a self-catering barn conversion booked for a week in May near Brecon. If we went, we would take all our supplies with us, so no need for shops, and we would not need to come close to anyone. We would take the bikes and do long rides. If we cancel, a local business (a farm) would lose money. And Brecon is just over an hour away by car. It is within my region. I'm interested in your feelings on this. I'm mulling it over. I don't want to go ahead with it if it makes things worse for anyone else, but I'm not sure it does.

That’s the huge dilemma we all have. May seems a long way off and we will all be hoping for some change by then. If we survive til then we are all going to cabin crazy.
I would speak to the owners nearer the time and get their opinion. I think hidden away with your own food isn’t infringing on anyone unless you become ill.

Yep. You echo my own views exactly. We will certainly speak to the owners before turning up. May, I fear, will be at the height of the epidemic.

I reckon the time has come to stop. Batten down your hatches, pop out for a short walk to get fresh air but heed the advice. Stay at home unless absolutely necessary. Sad times.

I think reluctantly I'll have to stay at home. I called a campsite and they would be open just for me and there's no one else there so would be ideal. But I'd struggle to find anywhere open for supplies, even McDonald's are closing from tomorrow.
It's rapidly changing but I fear a complete lock down is imminent especially with all the idiots congregating in large numbers in tourist areas this weekend in the sunshine.

Perhaps a series of long rides starting and finishing at home might be best.
