It's rapidly changing but I fear a complete lock down is imminent especially with all the idiots congregating in large numbers in tourist areas this weekend in the sunshine.
Perhaps a series of long rides starting and finishing at home might be best.
Yep. I did one today.

Given the way people have been behaving in shops it's hardly surprising the Scots are unhappy about incoming caravanners etc buying up 'their' goods in the shops.
I went to do my NORMAL weekly shop plus a few extras for MIL who is 87 and recently had hip surgery, as we entered the supermarket we were told Toilet Roll Milk and Bread was restricted to one packet per customer. Not short of TR but I know MIL asked me to see if I could get any... what a joke!!!! Luckily I know some the local shops have it in stock so was not too bothered. But whilst going in I got talking to someone who had travelled over 20 miles to come 'our' local supermarket..... I could not help feeling very sorry for our locals who might be less able to travel out of the area for supplies while people from out of our area turn up and strip the shelves.
So word of caution stay at home, shop local, look after those near by who may need assistance, and wait until this over for your trips.

Traveling to holiday homes and campsites has today been specifically excluded from a list of essential travel.

Though when it comes to areas that cater for tourists, the reason they have so many shops is because of the tourists. Some of their shop capacity is for tourism.

But that capacity is only generally in place seasonally, and the back end of March generally doesn't count in the UK.
More to the point, the chances of e.g. NHS Highlands' ICU beds (there's normally a grand total of 7 at Raigmore in Inverness, the region's biggest hospital) being overwhelmed by normal holiday traffic in normal circumstances doesn't necessarily bear much relation to chances during a global respiratory disease pandemic.
We're being asked to stay away for a good reason, and while 1 extra person won't matter, if lots of people work on that assumption there'll be lots of extra people, not one.
Pete.

But with no "you must not ..." more at the level of "my might like to consider ..." will anybody heading to holiday homes pay any attention? Personally I suspect people will still head to wherever they want.

It isn't just Scotland. East Coast in Essex is suffering similar. Mersea Island caravan sites are now full and local independent vegetable shop closed for a few days as it has nothing left to sell.

It’s such a shame they have to make it up as they go along and not one of them could foresee what was going to happen.
They should have had all this on the side of a bus weeks ago If only the gov had thrown a £100million pound campaign at this like another pet project makes me confident they’ve thought that one through though.

Ive also been planning on doing on solo camping. Now that everyone is stuck in their homes, I thought now would be the perfect time to go out camping without bumping to anyone. Maybe I should do it next week but I still need see where the current situation is going.

Possibly not a great idea to advertise it on here.

I'm just wondering which parts of the instruction "Stay at home" is unclear?

You would have to be selfish to go on any form of cycle camping trip at the present moment .
I surprised to read the comments on hear suggesting a cycle camping trip would be
Ok during a lockdown which states essential travel only .

Most of the comments date from before the lockdown imposed on the evening of 23 March.

I can see no reason why you think the government request doesn't apply to you jimgrains51.

I think only one serious suggestion about camping since 23 March. I wonder if even that was just a wind up.
