That's not police state: that would, if it was actually as related, simply be illegal and could be challenged.

I fear you must spend too much time looking for conspiracies.

As always the 'most damning' bit is supposedly shown - well unless he's just knocked down two old ladies, or it's a stolen a deliveroo outfit so he can pretend he's essential working whilst delivering drugs.
It could be anything, and the paranoid will always jump to conclusions, heavy handed (ungloved) copper is thec likely response to a lippy smarty pants.

His union who help to protect him as a worker are actually the ones who tweeted this, if you think he is a fraud, pretending to be someone else and has stolen this uniform and stolen medicines etc then report it to police.

Even a senior York Councillor is saying that the fines should be lifted as the bollards preventing mptor traffic from entering into pedestrianised area were removed.

How much time is that, I was reading RoadCC and this is in their daily news feed, you need to get a grip in terms of worrying how much time someone else spends reading cycling news, I fear you'll have a breakdown.

It may well be true but that would be an instance of bad or even illegal behaviour, not evidence of a police state.

I'm not denying the incident, just saying it is not a police state.

So what we have here is the police stopping and imposing a fine on an individual who has cycled where cycling is not allowed, but with some confusion having arisen over whether the ban on cycling there had been lifted? It hadn't but the courier claims not to have known that. And we don't know how the conversation went, who said what. I can see a case for revoking the fine, due to confusion, but I'd not pass judgement on this without having heard the conversation.

As I think many of us already knew, it's not the easy bits where Berlin installed bollards that are the dangerous place. It's the junctions which they pretty much failed to change as far as I've seen from pictures from ADFC.Berlin and so.

One journalist waiting at a traffic light was run over by a lorry when its driver lost control of the vehicle - which reminds me of the GF tipper killing Brian Holt in London. It's just not safe to tell cyclists to wait in front of heavy vehicles at junctions, is it?

Their Senator for Transport tries to excuse this by saying things like "Secure infrastructure needs time" but they could unravel the routes (so some routes become people-first with motoring discouraged or restricted) and reprogram the traffic lights where routes cross (to give the walking/cycling route default greens and priority) pretty quickly if they really wanted to prioritise cycling and walking over motoring. It looks like they want people to shut up more than they want them to walk or cycle. :(

In every interview I have heard from the Derbyshire plod they seem to be digging an ever deeper hole for themselves. Since the actions self evidently can't be justified on infection control (ie the intended purpose of the emergency legislation) they resort to other trivial measures (they might need mountain rescue, they might break down and so on).

NB date: that was from March 2020.

"Police have urged visitors to stay away from the Lake District after a mountain rescuer fell 150 metres and sustained “life-changing injuries” while coming to the aid of two hikers.

Rescuers were called to help two men who had travelled more than 100 miles in contravention of coronavirus regulations to camp overnight on a 780-metre (2,500ft) fell in near-freezing conditions. The hikers, who were from the Leicester area and the Liverpool area, requested help after one of them experienced chest pains on Saturday morning.

Patterdale Mountain Rescue said an experienced member of its team slipped and fell 150 metres (490 feet), sustaining spinal injuries and facial fractures while making his way to the pair. The 60-year-old man, who has not been named, was airlifted to the Royal Preston hospital where he remained in a serious but stable condition on Monday."

They are our police force. Might I suggest that you say yes and question later or never. Much better for the community that way. Living in communist USSR or some other some similar state and I might have a touch of sympathy but in the UK? Police state? Yeah right.
