£800 58cm Alu Road Bike...

Post by fooddestroyer »

Howdy!

On the hunt throughout the UK market for a good-quality 58cm aluminium. I've been offered a Cinelli Experience (beauty) at £800 from my local bike shop, which I would have taken, but it was a 56cm! I've also noticed a 'Willier' over at Discountcyclesdirect

It's ex-display;

Anyone had any business with this company?

Any general comments about this bike?

Or, if you had around £800, what is the best way to spend it on a decent entry road-bike (or even find a good quality used)
Thanks!

I've always regarded Cinelli as a bit over priced, tbh. For £800 it's worth investigating Boardman and Decathlon, both of whom offer pretty good VFM..

I take a 58cm in a standard (horizontal top tube) frame (measured centre to centre on the seat tube) and I found the Willier L size too small. I've ridden a different model (carbon fibre) of Willier in XL size several times and found them to be good bikes. I would try the size before you buy.

Agree. As alu frames go they don't come much better and that's an excellent price.(I own a CAAD10 that came from Pauls cycles back in 2012) In due course they could upgrade to a 105 or an Ultegra groupset if required but Tiagra is still an excellent starting point.

Hi
Do you need a 58cm frame? I ask because the top tube length is possibly more important. I have a 58cm bike and a 54cm bike and the top tube lengths are within a few mm, as are the head tube lengths and wheelbases. A 350mm seatpost and a flipped stem and I'm in the same riding position on both
