TT week. Ends TODAY!

Post by Manx Cat »

Yep roads are closed as I type. Its the afternoon race and parade to do then its all over until the Grand Prix in August.

Back on the wheels tomorrow.

But Im going to have to cycle a long long way.... Im baking. Have been since about 11 am. The kitchen is full of fudge and proper cooked coconut ice for Monday. Im selling sticky yummy things for charity at College.

And yes.... any cook worth her salt has to try out here dishes.

THousands of sugary calories sit in front of me.

Its a bank holiday on the island today. And HOT adn Sunny!

Well now you can tour the Mountain Course how fast is your lap? The bikes were managing 125ish, so 12.5mph seems reasonable.

I'd manage more like 1.25mph. :D

Pioneer, I take up the challenge!

No cake just yet, so far 1Kg of coconut ice cut into 150g and bagged, and 1Kg of homemade fudge, again bagged and ready to sell.

Waiting for flab jack (no spelling error ) to cool before cutting and wrapping it up.

Tomorrow is chocolate brownie day. After Ive cleaned off all the flour from my kitchen table, a photoshoot will be done!

WOW, I cycled today. Amazing how horrible the legs feel after only 10 days of not cycling.

And yes, I think there was a 135mph average on the course this year during practices. Imagine, this was the AVERAGE.... Mad or what!

No racers died as far as Ive heard so far.....

I am as yet to cycle the entire course, the Mountain is too dangerous this time of year. Sadly we lost 5 visitors to RTA's.

This is the bit I hate about TT. The folk who come here for a good holiday only to leave in a black bag. There was even a fatal crash on my cycle route and this was totally off the TT course at Jurby. :(

Good news on the cake front', not on the accidents.

Had no idea so many people died other than M/C's.

But apart from that, still a grand place to live eh?

At least you've got some hills, what I'd give for some good views!

Pioneer, you certainly hit the button there I could not agree more! I do love living here for lots of reasons. For one thing, I am sure we have drivers here, who maybe because of TT who knows, are more tolerant of cyclists. Its a bloomin' expensive place, but it does make up for this with lovely views. Its a fab place to raise children as its quite a safe place wiht a low crime rate.

AND

We have less than 3% unemployment!

Hint, hint.

PS.

If anyone wants some of my homemade fudge, it does travel very well indeed!

I am donating all the ingredients and the proceeds are going to be split 50-50 between Hospice IOM, and my daughters youth group 440(1stManx) Squadron. (She is a member of aircadets.) This organisation depends on contributions to enable Manx members to travel to the UK to compete in sporting events.

Cost of fudge if you fancy a try of it:

£1.00 for 100g plus postage.

It is excellent stuff containing sugar of course, milk and butter only. I have won the best produced homemade fudge for 7 years at the trot at our local Agricultural show in August. So it IS good stuff. :D :D

Mary,

I'm sure it is good stuff, but who do you get to pack it?

(sorry,couldn't resist it!)

You say there's low unemployment.
Do you know if there's any jobs going for one armed, shortsighted lion- tamers? If so, I'm your man!

I'll P.M. you about the fudge. (Got a very sweet tooth).

Tip Tip.

TT races were still going on last night, down the M6 judging by the numbers and antics being employed by all the bikers who joined it at Lancaster.

Fudge sounds irresistible but I will in favour of my desperate need to lose weight/get fit, still a big struggle.

Laurie, our local newspapers are full of work.

If you fancy, I can post you our local courier, its a free publication, and I would be happy to mail it to you.

Our main industry here is financial. (sad but true). Insurance and the like. Im not in this type of work myself, we do have an agricultural industry as well, and because the island is full of retired folk, we have lots of work in the caring area as well. We also have a HUGE hospital and they are always seeking folk as too.

New workers need a work permit to work here, but they are not difficult to get considering the number of foreign nationals who work and live here now.

PM me if you need further info. What work are you in your self?

I am a technician in education. Very lowly I can assure you.

But if education is your bag, we have 5 secondary schools, 30+ primary and one College. I work at the College, we run mostly GCSE, and GCE courses, but we are now also running 5 or more degree courses, not sure exactly what in. Im in the biology department. We do a degree in Public Health.
