Journalists hyperbole???

Post by Jamesh »

The Carbaura, according to Halo :-
. . . . is the fastest disc brake wheelset it has ever developed thanks to a computational fluid dynamics (CFD)-designed and tested rim. Out on the road this 50mm version (35mm is also available) certainly feels fast and there is a noticeable drop-off in effort needed to keep them rolling once your speed gets above about 23mph, something that happens with a lot of decently aerodynamic wheels.

Really..... Surely effort increases exponentially but possibly not as much as other wheels.

Tech sells bikes.

Back in the 80’s I remember reading several reviews of half decent bikes where the tester stated that the inclusion of 531 main frame tubes imparted a more comfortable ride, which is total rubbish.
The older I get the more I’m inclined to act my shoe size, not my age.

Such gems are only matched by the people who read and believe the tripe written.

If all those things that give us an extra 2mph did, we’d be riding around at 60mph.
I’ve no doubt that some components make us faster but most improvements come from the rider.

Same subject, but to do with cars.

Someone once said that if he installed all the fuel-saving devices that say how many mpg you save, his petrol tank would overflow every 100miles.

My average between home and work is 58mph, I need some of those Halo wheels for the extra 2mph, that will shave 4 seconds off my journey, well worth it

As it is, I do own 50mm deep CF wheels, Campagnolo Bora's, they look very nice, they're very robust - so I found out on Sunday , how much faster do they and tubs fitted to them make me, I don't know and I don't care because they look nice, match the frame and give me a pretty comfortable ride with the 27/25mm tyres, oh and I paid circa 45% of retail with a new Conti Comp fitted baksheesh.
By far the most expensive single cycling Item I've bought including some very nice bikes, the main downside is the sidewinds when you're at speed and the hedgerows open up, it's not so bad if it's reasonably constant and not silly speeds, but catch a gust and you really do feel the effects of the deep rim, had a right wobble fairly recently.

A few years ago out on the bike caught up with a guy I didn’t know. Chatting and discovered he was a journalist for cycling magazines.
I said, " oh so you are one of those guys that write all that pish in magazines". He looked at me asconce and then , I think, he thought I was joking.

Hi
What's hyperbole?

The Hyperbole cassette and chain system faciltates a future cadre of road cyclists by enhancing the cycling experience through improved gear shifting and ergonomics. Maybe :D

Yes. It's the exact, aerodynamic curve on the rims which scoops the air out from in front of the wheel and sends it behind it, hence why, as David Millar would say, you get the 2 mph increase in speed :D

I had my breakfast in one this morning, lots of roughage in the form of muesli, apricots, dates, figs and grapes, with black coffee afterwards.
It gave me more than 2mph faster to the bathroom! :?

All safely deposited in the Hyperbole, I hope.
